Mental Health USA provides information about mental health and life problems that can be addressed by a licensed mental health professional. Depending on their training and expertise, Mental Health Professionals can treat mild, moderate and severe mental health problems, including depression, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, relationship problems, child behavior problems, other mental health diagnoses, and life adjustment problems that cause psychological stress or other emotional symptoms. This also includes life transitions such as career change and retirement that often benefit from life coaching. We offer basic information about common psychological problems, as well as articles written by mental health professionals across the United States.

The National Directory of Mental Health Professionals, which is a central part of Mental Health USA, provides information about Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Clinical Social Workers, Marriage Counselors, Family Therapists, Professional Counselors, and other licensed mental health professionals to assist consumers who are seeking counseling, life coaching, and mental health services. Since Mental Health Professionals differ in their training and expertise, it is improtant that you verify that a professional has the necessary skills to be able to help you with your problem. You should talk to a Mental Health Professional about his/her training and expertise prior to beginning treatment. In addition, you may want to verify the professionalís license with the state licensing board, and review the requirements for licensing of the different types of Mental Health Professionals in your state. We provide links to the various licensing boards to assist you.

We are currently in the process of developing our professional directories. Mental Health USA will be fully functional later this year. We have provided links to the State Profesional Directories that currently have listings. If your state is not yet listed, please bookmark this site, and return when you are seeking information about counseling, psychotherapy and life coaching.

If you are a Mental Health Professional, you can register to include your practice online. Information is also available about publishing an article on Mental Health USA.
